About Dave Lipson

 
 

Dave Lipson and his family acquired the land that is presently Paws Up Ranch and the Resort at Paws Up in 1997 following extensive searching and research.  Mr. Lipson spent 25 years with Arthur Andersen, LLP, in Chicago and Western Europe, rising to the position of managing partner for international services and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the firm. He left Andersen in 1985 after receiving a blockbuster offer from a longtime client of his and Andersen -- Beatrice Companies, of Chicago. Beatrice was a major food and consumer conglomerate, based in Chicago. He joined Beatrice as an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and was elected to the Board of Directors.


Following the sale of Beatrice in 1986, Mr. Lipson founded Knightsbridge Capital Corporation, a middle market merchant banking organization. The buyout business focused on profitable middle market companies in manufacturing and retail businesses and consummated several successful acquisitions and subsequent sales. The Knightsbridge portfolio today consists primarily of a high-end, luxury resort, development real estate, two internet businesses and a temporary staffing company. Mr. Lipson also oversees a sizeable international investment portfolio, various agricultural based activities and a substantial family foundation, the Paws Up Foundation, of which he is a director.


Mr. Lipson is/or has been a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, as well as numerous other business, professional, charitable and civic organizations. He is the author of many technical articles in the international area and is one of the past authors of “Federal Taxes Affecting Real Estate.”  He has spoken before numerous business, tax and professional groups.


Mr. Lipson received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University. He is married to the former Nadine Vergari, who is active in the family business. He has two sons, one of whom is also very involved in the family business.
